This sound absorption module is a great room acoustic device for reducing decay times (commonly called reverberation) in the low and mid frequencies. It's most effective around approximately 100-1000 Hz but will even out lower frequency regions. Changes as low as 60 Hz is not uncommon. 

The plastic surface around the absorber inside acts as a limp membrane and together with the mass inside, this air tight enclosure and acoustic system efficiently reduces acoustic energy and lowers the decay times. The outer enclosure with it's fabric and lightweight wood panels is mainly for enabling easy stacking of several modules. 
In contrast to a velocity type broadband porous absorber as the Absorbear, these Limp Bear panels do not need to be as deep in order to reduce lower frequencies. The limp bag absorber inside this Bear Trap is 19 cm deep. 

One benefit of using a Bear Trap is that they absorb over a broad bandwidth. In contrast, an helmholtz resonator tends to often be a high Q (narrow bandwidth) system. Therefor they are potentially challenging to integrate adequately with your specific needs. 

A generous amount of panels is often needed to get satisfactory results, but this is of course highly depended on your space and it's current room acoustic state.
